Colorless transparent liquid with pungent odor. Relative density 0.9485 (20 ^οC), melting point -58^οC, boiling point 112.3^οC, refractive index 1.429-1.431 (20 ^οC), flashing point 36^οC. Soluble in water, benzene, chloroform, dichloroethane, ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone, dioxane, tetrahydrofuran, pyridine. Slightly soluble in carbon tetrachloride. Insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbon.

Usage: 

Widely used in the production of medicine (yellow sulfonamide, fosfomycin sodium, etc.), pesticide (propargite); used as drill pipe or tubing corrosion inhibitor in petroleum industry; additive to avoid hydrogen attack and embrittlement of steels in iron and steel industry; used to produce brightening agent in electroplating industry.
